Coronavirus in Oklahoma: OKC Broadway announces rescheduled shows, including new dates for 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'My Fair Lady'

Jul. 24--OKC Broadway has announced rescheduled dates for shows on its 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons that have been shifted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We at OKC Broadway are overwhelmingly grateful to our subscribers, ticketholders, sponsors, staff, artists, and community for their support and understanding during this uncertain time. With everyone's safety as the top priority, all decisions about the feasibility and timing of upcoming OKC Broadway performances are being carefully considered and guided by medical and public health advisers," said OKC Broadway General Manager Elizabeth Gray in an email.

"In addition, the shows we present are part of large national tours, and the task to schedule and reschedule routes during this pandemic in cities across the country with different mandates is, as you can imagine, immeasurable. As such, there are a number of current date changes in the 2019-2020 and 2020-21 Seasons, sponsored by Paycom, as well as to Season Special events, and rescheduling of some shows is still in progress."

Here are the show updates that have been announced:

"Stomp": The international percussion sensation will now play OKC Jan. 15-17, 2021, at the Civic Center Music Hall. As previously reported, it was originally slated to play OKC April 24-25. Patrons should hold onto their tickets as they will be valid for the same day of the week and performance time.

"Riverdance": The beloved dance show has been rescheduled to June 1-3, 2021, at the Civic Center. It was originally scheduled to play OKC in June 2020.

Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory": What was to be the final show of the 2019-2020 OKC Broadway season has been rescheduled to Aug. 17-22, 2021 at the Civic Center. As previously reported, the show was originally slated to play OKC May 12-17. Patrons should hold onto their tickets as they will be valid for the same day of the week and performance time.

"Oklahoma!," "Mean Girls" and Blue Man Group: The OKC runs of these shows at the Civic Center are in the process of being rescheduled. As previously reported, they are all part of the OKC Broadway 2020-2021 season. OKC Broadway will update subscribers and OKCBroadway.com as soon as new dates are confirmed.

"My Fair Lady": The OKC run for the sumptuous new production of the Lerner & Loewe classic has been rescheduled for Sept. 28-Oct. 3, 2021, at the Civic Center. It was originally scheduled for Oct. 27-Nov. 1, 2020, as part of the OKC Broadway 2020-2021 season.

"Dear Evan Hanson," Disney's "Frozen," "Pretty Woman" and "Wicked": These shows on the 2020-2021 season are slated to proceed as scheduled in 2021 at the Civic Center. "Dear Evan Hanson" is scheduled for Feb. 2-7, 2021; Disney's "Frozen" is March 11-21, 20201; "Pretty Woman" is April 20-25, 2021; and "Wicked" is May 12-30, 2021.

"The Office! A Musical Parody": The hit unauthorized musical parody of the acclaimed TV show is being rescheduled to fall 2021 at the Rose State College Hudiburg Chevrolet Center in Midwest City. As previously reported, the show was originally slated for March 18 at the Midwest City venue, but was subsequently postponed to summer and then delayed again. Patrons should hold onto their tickets and will be notified as soon as new dates are announced.

Both the Civic Center and Hudiburg Chevrolet Center remain temporarily closed to the public due to the pandemic.

OKC Broadway is the Oklahoma City presenter of the nationally touring Broadway shows and is a partnership between the Nederlander Organization, known for presenting live theater and concerts worldwide, and the Civic Center Foundation, which in its almost two-decade history has donated millions to the Civic Center Music Hall for improvements to heighten the performance experience for both performers and audiences.

The fluidity of the current situation may require further schedule adjustments as OKC Broadway continues to navigate the challenges of the pandemic. Gray said that patrons should rest assured that no matter how the situation may change, the value of their ticket is safe.

"We continue to closely monitor the situation and may make further changes as necessary. Rest assured, however, that we will be back to sharing the live Broadway experience once again at the Civic Center Music Hall and Hudiburg Performing Arts Center as soon as possible, applauding alongside you louder and stronger than ever before," she said in her email.
